The cusp of the tenth house is formed by the Midheaven (MC) and it is the highest point of the chart. It is one of the major angles and a very sensitive point.

Career changes and arising difficulties are shown by transits to the Midheaven/MC and also generally by any planetary placements in the tenth house, especially if close to the MC, in the natal chart.

*There is much debate as to which parent is governed by the tenth and fourth houses. Some say the father is the tenth, with the mother the fourth, while others say it is the other way round. Some say that the fourth house governs the parent with the most influence. It would seem more logical that the mother would be governed by the fourth house as it is ruled by the moon which is representative of the mother and of nurturing, while the tenth is primarily to do with ambition and career and therefore usually more appropriate to the father.
